An innovative, experimental, unique and high scoring (95%) final year project!
After doing the Certificate in Virtual Production at the Academy of Live Technology over the summer of 2023, I wanted to use what I ‘d learnt and experiment with getting an actor to interact with a virtual environment in a VP studio. I came up with the Alice in Wonderland-style theme and decided to see whether I could combine animation and live action to make it look like an actor was falling down a hole and then shrinking to the size of the background in a short video sequence. I did everything myself, from star to finish (including setting up and running the VP studio, editing, colour grading and music/sound effects) apart from the camerawork and acting. All the environments that you can see behind the doors are scenes that I had made for previous projects.
I had to be trained up in how to use the university’s studio before I could start, In particular, I had to learn how to use the lighting desk and the tracking methods and control system for this particular studio (which were different to the tech used in Production Park’s commercial studio).

I am very proud of the overall result and would love the opportunity to use my skills and knowledge on a professional virtual production shoot for TV or film.
