Case Study: Helping a Small Engineering Firm go from paper-based Systems to fully Digital!

Matt was approached by a consortium of investors to help implement new business systems in a small engineering firm, based in South Yorkshire, that they’d just bought. As it stood, they, the new management team and accountant were struggling to get a handle of the company’s key metrics and see where they could make savings and improvements.

  • a CRM to keep track of customers and suppliers
  • a job booking system
  • inspection tracking (via tablets on the shop floor)
  • a digital clocking in system (via tablets in the staff entrance)
  • hours per job tracking (via tablets on the shop floor) and automated tracking of billing per job
  • bill of materials and parts lists
  • purchase ordering and goods in system (including a QR for each job that scanned as it comes in and automatically opens the purchase order details)
  • assemblies
  • training and support

In addition the investors, management team and accountant will be able to access real-time reporting on:

  • work in progress
  • staff hours
  • forecasting
  • estimated hours
  • planning

This will enable to them to identify savings and efficiencies, and grow the business quickly.

The next stage of the project is to:

  • create a stock and inventory control system
  • and integrate the billing and accounting information with Xero
